Sex, drugs & electropunk.
To summarize 'High Speed Killer Ride' we suggest these three words. Waxdolls' debut album blends punky electrobeats with analogue synths and sexually explicit lyrics. And if that ain't enough they'll add a dash of steamy voices, electric guitars and potatochips. They head out on the highway, but always manage to steer back when they're about to crash their synths.
The album is recorded at Temple Studios, Malta and produced by Luuk Cox (Shameboy). You too can take a trip on gasoline. (all together) High! Speed! Killer! Ride!
'High Speed Killer Ride' is released on Sputnik and distributed by PIAS in April 2009.
The album is also available online on Beatport and iTunes.
Waxdolls?
Lieven Dermul got a master degree at the Conservatory (Production), Wim Slabbinck is sexologist. Together they're Waxdolls, an electropunk band from Ghent. Two boys and some toys, that's all we need.
After only one year of existence, Waxdolls shared the stage with Vitalic, Digitalism, and Alter Ego. They got splendid reviews on their sets at Pukkelpop Hasselt, 5 Days Off Amsterdam, 10 Days Off Ghent and Dour Festival. And after their gig at the special Belgian edition of Eurosonic Noorderslag (Groningen, the Netherlands), they were called "best Belgians" by 3voor12 (VPRO).
